THE ROLE OF ARCHITECTURAL ENVIRONMENTS IN CREATING EMOTIONAL ATTACHMENT AND ENHANCING TOURISM
5 viewsAbstract
The architectural environment significantly affects human experience, inspiring emotional bonds known as place attachment that facilitate tourism and destination loyalty. While recent literature highlights architecture as a key attraction factor, few studies discuss how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be used to measure the emotions elicited by architectural environments, and almost none analyze this effect from a financial perspective. This study examines the connection between the architectural environment, emotional attachment, and tourism, noting how AI-driven spatial analysis and corporate finance metrics highlight the economic value of heritage spaces. Relying strictly on objective secondary empirical data through a qualitative literature-based synthesis, the research evaluates themes such as architectural identity, heritage preservation, and sustainable tourism. The findings demonstrate that aesthetic design, cultural authenticity, and quality public spaces positively affect the tourist experience and stimulate revisit intentions. Furthermore, these emotional impacts—which can now be accurately measured using AI technologies—have a significant externality effect on national economies. Ultimately, fostering emotional attachment through architecture builds destination loyalty, which is a critical factor for sustaining the working capital and corporate profitability of the local tourism economy.
