Christelle M. Afif

Financial institutions have never stopped debated about the impact of artificial intelligence in areas like algorithmic trading, portfolio management, risk assessment, and anti-fraud mechanisms. Questions were raised on what the future holds for finance professionals in the wake of this technological coup. The objective of this paper is to investigate if AI replaces people working in finance or informs their practice and top-dressing their work. It employs a qualitative research design using literature review, case studies, and observations from the industry to evaluate how AI is currently being implemented in financial institutions and its impact on finance-related jobs. The paper finds that AI clearly improves efficiency through automation, especially in sequences useless and repetitive tasks. Humans remain integral for strategic decisions and for anything that requires ethical judgment or client service. While traditional roles may be eclipsed by the power of machines, new positions are rapidly opening in areas such as fintech, AI-assisted investment management, and data analytics. The report conclude that AI will transform finance jobs rather than replace them. Therefore, this transformation will emphasize the need for employees in finance to have technical skills and be flexible moving forward.
