Financial Literacy and Saving Behavior
1 viewsAbstract
This study explored the relationship between financial literacy and saving behavior among university students while also considering financial inclusion and self-control. The study utilized secondary empirical data from Irfan et al. (2023), who investigated accounting students at a private Islamic university in Medan City, Indonesia. Irfan et al. (2023) conducted a survey among 97 students selected from a population of 3,747 students and analyzed the data using Partial Least Squares (PLS). The results reported a significant relationship between financial literacy, financial inclusion, and students' saving behavior, whereas self-control was not reported as a significant moderator. Similarly, previous research has demonstrated a relationship between financial literacy and students' financial and saving behavior (Prempeh et al., 2024; Faramida et al., 2023). The results suggest that the improvement of students' financial knowledge and access to financial services can lead to better saving behavior. The results should be interpreted in the context of the original participants, as the current research is based on published evidence, not original data collection.
